Feedback KC is based on a few simple principles.

Through conversations with business owners and consumers we found that both had similar desires.  The current system of review sites often put them at odds.  Consumers feel the only way to share their feedback is on review sites.  Business owners hate getting the first word of a problem through these sites where it is permanently broadcast to the world.

1. Customers and Business Owners both want businesses to do better.

Customers have high expectations of the businesses they patronize.  When they see room for improvement, they want to share that information with business owners.  Business owners need this information to improve their customers’ experience.  If an employee or policy prevents the business form meeting a customer’s expectation, the business owner needs to know.

2. Review sites create and adversarial relationship between businesses and customers.

Currently customers feel the best way to give constructive criticism to business owners it through review sites.  Customers often want to share information they want owners to know, but don’t feel comfortable bringing it up in person.  This gives them the choice of sharing their critique with the world or not giving owners the feedback they need to improve.  As a result owners often only hear from their most dissatisfied customers in the form of one-star reviews rather than constructive criticism from customers that want a business to improve.

3. The opportunity for a private dialogue between owners and customers benefits everyone.

Business owners benefit from the constructive criticism of customers.  No business owner can see every customer interaction and feedback from the customers on their experience will allow the owner to make changes that benefit all customers.  No one goes into business to disappoint customers or fail to meet their expectation.  Knowing how to improve helps them build their business and helps them build their business.  This is feedback is best given and received in a private dialogue rather than a public review.
